I would never ever ever make this list. My top 15 when I was 15 would surely have MC Hammer and worse.

Once you had made your list you would have had to stick with it, and keep telling yourself “You can’t touch this.”
P.S. I still listen to the odd MC Hammer song. He had a great way to get you in a good mood.

If I was lucky, it would be You Can’t Touch This. Based on the timing it could even be 2 Legit 2 Quit.
I would have likely had Nirvana and Public Enemy on the list too, so that counts for something (counts for a blind squirrel finding a nut, maybe).

Mine would be all Kiss and Maiden.
I might be able to do this, but I don’t think my list would be very good.

All Kiss and Maiden. How could it not be good?

A valid point. I could do it. 15 would have been grade 10. I know every single album I was into, in grade 10.

Haha, I still listen to MC Hammer! A favorite soundtrack is Charlie’s Angels Full Throttle, featuring MC Hammer and others.

Mine would all have been Queen, with maybe Mr Mister and Sting at the end.

Ok so Queen. Twisted Sister and Love at First Sting. Got it.

Apparently Borelinda’s kids did.
She didn’t like an email that some jerk named Brian sent in about Brantford.

Oooo! Good idea for a post! Mine would probably have Depeche Mode and the Cure on it.

I have collected a bunch of 80’s/90’s goth/alternative/new wave. If I was to choose some to listen to, where would you suggest I start?
Maybe I’ll end up a 40 something year old goth. At least if I go all black, I can cover up these grey hairs popping through.

Start with the Smiths, and Echo and the Bunnymen. Siouxsie and the Banshees is a great 80s goth start.
Duran Duran and New Order, are also great examples of Brit new wave.

I have all of the above. Thanks for the goth/new wave lesson.
I really appreciate that every one of the pieces of.music I find from these genres is in great shape. The listeners must have really loved their music.

Nice idea, but another I wouldn’t do for a different reason.
At 15 I owned precisely zero albums.

What about your faves from that time you recall on the radio or video shows.

The problem is not an absence of favourites (or at least enjoyed and admired albums) but of choosing. The tragic problem of too much good music!
Having said that, I’m thinking of posting on Friday about this very topic…

I will look forward to seeing that

Also full Kudos for Diver Down! Man that’s a good curveball thrown at the plate! Like I always say it may not be the biggest seller of the bands output its jUst how it resonates with U the listener!

I am quite sure I am the only human being that calls that their favourite Van Halen album. Most VH fans rate that as thr worst DLR album, and behinr many Sammy albums.

Weird, I thought I commented here too! Me at 15 would have been a lot of jazz and big band.

I would enjoy seeing that list. I have a bunch of those in the basement. I am hoping to find gold.

Eliminator! Another favorite of mine. Great idea for a list, by the way :). The problem for me is that I can’t think of much. Around that time I was much more heavily into reading than music.

Love this theme, such a succinct little peak behind the curtains. I think you could also do: posters on the bedroom wall, or concert tickets on the cork board.

I never did the poster thing, but the tickets on the cork board is what I still do. Then they never get lost.
So many write ups could be about that time.
Recording tapes.
Waiting in huge lines for concert tickets.
Hitchhiking.
Teenage beer drinking parties.
Concert reviews from memory.
If I didn’t already have about 30 waiting to be posted I would do a write up on them all.
Fun times

I have a detailed “how-to” coming on how to make a mix tape. I think you’ll enjoy that flash from the past.

I want to do some tape stuff too. How to’s, buying cassette players, the right tape to buy, recording and playback on cassette etc. Hopefully I can convince even one person that cassette is still a viable source of music.

I’m going to throw my hat in soon. Thanks for a near photographic musical memory I could probably tell you every single tape I had at 15.
I had about 200 tapes I think. Roughly 4 tape cases worth. I had all the Kiss and all the Maiden at that age and they would dominate my list.

I have a few old school records with one artist on side a, and one on side b. Kiss and Iron Maiden would have been AWESOME.
