I am stoked about this. Black Sabbath has pretty much called it a day and most of the forefathers of heavy metal are long gone, but Deep Purple keep soldiering on. They have a new album coming out on April 7, 2017. I will either pre-purchase, or be a first day buyer(I’m hoping for no vinyl delay). Below is a link to the new single released a half hour ago, and a video mentioning the new album coming out. Enjoy.
I’m the biggest DP fan I’ve ever met (lol) and I’m really excited. Last few records have been so good!
I realize vinyl is again a big part of new releases but I’ll be going CD all the way.

I usually go vinyl depending on price, and if cd has a special edition with more songs. I am like you. More songs = better.
I saw these guys a year or so ago at Molson Amphitheatre and they still kick ass. Loud as hell.

First day buying would be fun. Is the store able to let you know what will be available?

They 99.9% have cd on release day. Vinyl is a crap shoot. They always tell me they ordered it, but they are as in the dark often as I am. It’s not like the old days. Vinyl is frustrating to collect. I have regrettably bought cd if I am real desperate to have an album the day it is out.
There have been albums I had to wait around a year for the vinyl. Usually it’s a few weeks later.

Vinyl is increasing in popularity so stores might be able to stock it more predictably.
Here’s an article from BBC about vinyl sales: http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-38221420

When vinyl was more rare and special I used to occasionally buy the vinyl version for a band I really loved, like Kiss. Mainly for artwork. But now, everything is out on vinyl. I won’t buy vinyl anymore unless it has a bonus. Otherwise no.

I saw that article. The biggest issue is supply vs. demand. Vinyl dropped in popularity with cd’s and especially file sharing, downloading etc. Most pressing plants closed. Since then, vinyl has become popular again but with very few pressing plants and outdated equipment, the delays are upwards of 1 year from when a band wants to press a record until it is delivered.
I can go on about this all day. I have been thinking of doing posts about this, so at some point I will.

I saw that too. There are many audiophiles that only like the sound of vinyl from old school presses. The new, modern presses may or may not give quality. There are suspect vinyl plants out there. Time will tell if this new one will make a good product.
I hope being it is Canadian that it will succeed. I wonder if the vinyl craze has already peaked though. I’m thinking this should have happened about 3-5 years ago. Soon the market may be flooded with lesser quality plants trying to cash in on the craze, and therefore flooding the market with crap vinyl. I hope not, but I suspect it might go that way.

I think it’s peaking. Hopefully the Millenials will find something else to get into. Vintage video games are big. Go play those, Millenials.

I just picked up a Ted Nugent video game. I thought it was a cd at first. I am surprised bands have not tapped into this more. The new Megadeth and the visuals were cool.
As for vintage games, companies will probably re-produce the old school games and consoles.

It’s called Ted Nugent Wild Hunting Adventure.

You know Aerosmith made more money off their rock band game than any of their albums over the last couple decades?

I did not know that. I guess I never included Guitar Hero/Rock band in the whole game thing.

I have to admit I haven’t followed them much lately, but seeing how excited you and Mike are I might have to go back and start checking out their last few releases.

So who are the personnel in Deep Purple these days? Haven’t listened to them in, like, forever.

Paice, Glover, Morse, Gillen, Airey.
I think this line up has been arounr for about 10 years or so.

Closer to 15 years. First album with this lineup was Bananas, quite a while ago now.

I guess that is the longest tenure. This new one will be the same amount of albums (4) as Mark IIa.
Also, this was the line up that played at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
I’d say they’ve earned their rightful place as one of the better lineups.

I think this album may help you rectify that.
With Gillen singing it is a lot like the heydays of Mark II.

And Steve Morse is on the other side of awesome as we all know. I’ll give it a spin. Thanks.

Just listened to Bedlam. Weird, but a cool tune. If the album is even half as good as Machine Head or In Rock I’m all over it.

I think it will be at least 51% as good as those.
